October 10th-book orders, curriculum, costume for pow-wow
If anyone is available tomorrow morning to help?, Mrs. Depo is helping with vision screening.
Scholastic Book orders due tomorrow 10/11
Send checks written to Scholastic Books only
Thank you for the donations of:
#66 see saw CD/book set
# 49 Pick a pumpkin book
These will help make some more listening centers. I also bought 6 audio books from Barnes and Noble this weekend. The kids really like this center and we use it both for reading, comprehension and writing activities.
If anyone is interested, we'd love to get the Firefly CD/book collection too # 51. It has 4 more books/cd's.
I am using the points we've collected to order the 2 additional books for each audio book because our center serves 3 students at a time.
The kids really enjoyed "Llama llama misses mama" last week so I bought "Llama llama red pajamas" and stuffed Llama to read to the class this week.
This week:
letter sounds of P and A
shape trapezoid
investigating our pumpkins-completing a pumpkin report
color- orange
sight words-see and a
#5, identifying, writing, and modeling this number
reading/listening to pigeon books-"Don't let the Pigeon drive the bus", "Pigeon wants a puppy", "Pigeon finds a hotdog"
Can your child identify the first and last letter in words in a text?
Can they identify the first and last word in a sentence or page of text?
A big thank you to Hannah's family for the delicious green grape snack on Friday. They were yummy and the kids loved them!
Please send in a white pillowcase, one that will fit over your child. We will be making costumes out of these for our "Pow Wow" performance in November. Can we also get a volunteer to dye these a light brown?

Pumpkin Farm Trip
We had a great time at the pumpkin Farm!
The weather was great!
The weather was great!
We had six terrific parent volunteers, thanks!:)
We feed goats corn. We rode a hayride and saw corn and cotton fields. Some of us picked some cotton. All of us picked a pumpkin.
We will complete a pumpkin report next week that includes a lot of math. We could use a large class pumpkin to do a class math activity where we'll measure and compare it to the small class pumpkins from the farm. Which will have more seeds? Your child will bring their pumpkin home later next week.
Next week we will be studying:
letter sounds A and P
sight word: see
color orange
shape trapezoid
the number 5
matching sets to numerals
investigating pumpkins
