I am so excited to be at Joyner for my sixth year! My first class will be graduating to middle school this year. That's so hard to believe! Let me tell you about myself. I love teaching! Kindergarten is such a wonderful place to learn. In my class I use a lot of children's literature to teach all subjects and believe in hands on learning activities. The addition of the Promethean Board and United streaming have added rich resources to our curriculum. This year we have a new math curriculum called Math Expressions and a new handwriting curriculum called Handwriting without Tears. I teach reading using guided reading groups and will be adding some reading workshop time. The children will have a writing journal and some writing workshop lessons.

My family |
In August, my husband and I celebrated our 32nd anniversary. We have two sons. Our eldest, Travis, is a paramedic for Apex. He is married to Michelle and just had our first grandchild, Mackenzie. Our son Joey works for Wake Med-Cary and blessed us last week with a grand-dog named Bella.
I enjoy quilting, making prayer shawls for my church, being a Stephen Minister and reading. This summer I was lucky enough to spend July in the mountains. My sewing machine went with me and I finished four quilts. We enjoy escaping to the mountains whenever we can!

Cabernet Stars for my husband |
We've had a busy first few days. The children are learning routines and procedures. They completed a beginning of the year portrait. They did a wonderful job of sharing their "Me Bags" and sharing what they'd like to learn in kindergarten. We have a delightful group of children! It will be fun making lots of memories together this year.
